DomainKeys Identified Mail, or DKIM, is a method for validating the authenticity of an email message using a digital signature. When DKIM is activated for a given domain, a public key is published to the global Domain Name System and a private one is kept on the email server. If a new message is sent, a signature is generated using the private key and when the email message is received, the signature is authenticated by the POP3/IMAP mail server using the public key. Thus, the receiver can easily know if the email is legitimate or if the sender’s email address has been forged. A mismatch will occur if the content of the email has been edited in the meantime as well, so DomainKeys Identified Mail can also be used to make sure that the sent and the delivered emails are identical and that nothing has been attached or erased. This authentication system will strengthen your email safety, as you can verify the authenticity of the important emails that you get and your associates can do the exact same thing with the messages that you send them. Based on the given email provider’s adopted policies, a message that fails to pass the check may be removed or may emerge in the recipient’s mailbox with a warning symbol.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Cloud Web Hosting

The DomainKeys Identified Mail option is pre-enabled for all domains that are hosted in a cloud web hosting account on our cloud website hosting platform, so you won’t need to do anything yourself to enable it. The only condition is that the particular domain name should be hosted in a website hosting account on our end using our MX and NS records, so that the email messages will go through our mail servers. The private encryption key will be created on the server and the TXT record, which includes the public key, will be published to the DNS database automatically, so you will not have to do anything manually on your end in order to enable this feature. The DomainKeys Identified Mail email authentication system will allow you to send out credible email messages, so if you’re sending offers or a newsletter to clients, for example, your emails will always reach their target destination, whereas unsolicited third parties won’t be able to spoof your email addresses.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Semi-dedicated Servers

The DomainKeys Identified Mail feature is offered by default with any domain name that is registered through a semi-dedicated server account with us. It should also use our name servers, so that its DNS resource records are handled by our platform. The latter makes it possible for a special TXT record to be created, which is in fact the public key that confirms if a certain email is legitimate or not. This record is created as soon as a brand-new domain is added to a semi-dedicated server account through the Hepsia Control Panel and at the same time, a private key is generated on our mail servers. If you use our web and email hosting services, your emails will always reach their target audience and you won’t need to worry about unsolicited individuals using your addresses for spamming or scamming purposes, which is something rather important when you use email messages to communicate with your business collaborators.
