Set up in 2001, the .NAME generic domain extension is the only one meant for personal websites only. These domain names can consist of personal or fictitious names, aliases and/or other labels people are famous by. At the beginning, solely 3rd-level registrations were allowed, so if you planned to reserve john.doe.name, you would have to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were loosened and second-level registrations were also permitted. Already bought 3rd-level domain names remained operational.

You will have the opportunity to edit the WHOIS contact info, to park your domain, to modify Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an already purchased domain to our company if you take its EPP transfer authorization key from the present domain provider and we will renew it as soon as the transfer has been finished. There are no special stipulations on who can reserve a .NAME domain, but in order to preserve the objective behind its establishment alive, the Registry may verify who the owner is and if there is no connection between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration could be challenged.
